500 años de Tonatiuh, 2025

This monumental three-meter work establishes an unintended dialogue with the Aztec Calendar Stone, the Piedra del Sol. Conceived intuitively as a mandala, the artist later discovered a striking correspondence of lines, scale, and form with the ancestral carving a resonance that emerged unconsciously rather than through direct inspiration.

Brought to material form in 2025 with the support of a patron, the piece combines metals, semiprecious stones, stained glass, and Wixárika motifs in a circular geometry illuminated by electric blues and golden reflections. Its black stone frame functions as a threshold, amplifying the luminous energy of the central crystal and moonstone core.
500 años de Tonatiuh is a solar mirror where ancestral time reappears uninvited: a past that resurfaces in contemporary form, reminding us that history is also written through the unconscious.
