This pair of paintings develops from a single experience in La Huasteca, Nuevo León. Both works begin with the same landscape, but instead of describing it, they break it into two parallel readings that expand the idea of place.

In one, the body appears directly. My legs enter the foreground, fixing a point of view and making clear that the landscape is not distant but inhabited. The mountains, river, and sky begin to fold into that presence, dissolving the separation between observer and environment. The image becomes something lived rather than seen.

In the other, the scene shifts further into abstraction. The landscape is reduced to fragments of color, fluid shapes, and suspended elements. Water, terrain, and atmosphere remain, but they operate more like traces than representations. The composition opens up, leaving large areas of emptiness that contrast with concentrated zones of activity.

Together, the two works function as a single system. One anchors the experience in the body, the other expands it into a more unstable and open field. They move between recognition and dissolution, between being inside a place and watching it transform.

This approach anticipates later work, where space is not treated as a fixed backdrop but as something that can be reconfigured. The landscape becomes a structure that can absorb the body, fragment, and reorganize itself into new forms.
