This painting originates from a photograph taken in Florence, at a place along the river known as Pescaia Path, where people would gather when the water level dropped. It was a casual, open space, used for resting, talking, and spending time. The image of two lovers came from that context, a quiet moment within a shared public environment.

In the painting, that scene is no longer described directly. Instead, it is restructured. The bodies dissolve into a network of lines, planes, and organic fragments that still hold a sense of connection. The relationship between the figures remains central, but it is translated into tension, proximity, and flow rather than representation.

A central point anchors the composition, almost like a node, while the rest of the image expands outward. The surface moves between controlled drawing and more fluid painting, allowing the image to remain open and unstable. The use of warm tones, raw textures, and areas of exposed ground reflects the physicality of the place, while also pushing it into a more abstract territory.
