Air Portal Gold edition, 2025

A more intimate counterpart to the monumental Air Portal (2024), this edition condenses the same sense of movement and lightness into a smaller, singular form. Its aluminum body, fully covered in gold leaf, transforms the gesture of air in motion into an object of radiant permanence.

While the large portal rises in public space as an encounter with elemental force, the gold edition turns inward, operating as a contemplative object. The reflective surface absorbs and refracts light, shifting between brilliance and shadow, solidity and immateriality.
The piece underscores Huacuja’s ongoing interest in portals not only as architectural passages but as symbols—instances where the invisible is given form. By scaling the gesture down, the work functions almost like a relic or artifact: a distillation of the monumental into something intimate, precious, and unique.
